Ms. Rose teaches Thursdays and Fridays in the intermediate classroom with a focus on literacy and math. On the other days of the week, you’ll find her around the school working with students, staff and families.
Roxann “Rock” Rose-Duckworth began her elementary teaching career in 1988. She has taught a wide range of student populations in New York, Idaho and Washington State. While teaching at Alderwood Elementary School in Bellingham, she was recognized for her creative and effective teaching strategies when she was one of 3 general elementary teachers chosen by the Walt Disney Company’s 1996 American Teacher Awards. Roxann’s teaching is highlighted in The Creative Classroom Project, a video series by Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Project Zero (1999-2004). Roxann has presented at national teacher conferences and has published various writing projects for teachers including her most recent book, “Fostering Learner Independence” (2009). In recent years, Roxann has been working at WWU and local community colleges to prepare future teachers for tomorrow’s classrooms as well as working as an educational consultant to help current teachers reflect on and improve their teaching practices.
She resides in Bellingham, Washington with her husband of 25 years, Paul and their 12-year-old son, Tyrel. They are active members of Cornwall Church.
Kerry Syre • Primary Teacher & Co-Director

Mrs. Syre is a Co-Director and teaches our primary friends (grades K-2) with a focus on literacy and math skills 4 days a week. On the 5th day, you’ll find her in our school office planning great lessons and taking care of administrative tasks.
Kerry Syre worked in the Bellingham School District with students in grade levels K-3.
When her first son was born in 2003, she became a stay-at-home mom with lots of extra activities. For two of those years, she was employed by Birchwood Presbyterian Church as the co-director of Children’s Ministries and VBS Leader. For four years, she coordinated a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group that connected moms together to laugh, cry and embrace the journey of motherhood. Kerry attends many educational workshops and continuing education classes to keep her up-to-date with educational practices.
She has two sons, Parker (12) and Ryder (8). Her husband, Jon, was born and raised in Bellingham and they have been married 17 years. Other than teaching, parenting and volunteering she has put her energy into racing and fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society with Team in Training.
Bonnie Cunningham • Intermediate Teacher

Mrs. Cunningham teaches in the intermediate classroom with a focus on literacy and math on Mondays and Tuesdays. On Wednesdays, you’ll find her in the school office planning great lessons for the upcoming week.
Bonnie spent many years teaching in Bellingham Public School District where she specialized in multiage education. After taking some time off to be a full time mom, she re-entered the teaching profession as a substitute teacher at Bellingham Christian School. She has experience teaching pre-K through 5th grade including some classroom experience at a Title 1 school. Bonnie is known for her calming demeanor when working with kids. Her leadership is one of quiet confidence that the students thrive under.
Bonnie and her husband, Shawn, of 22 years live in Bellingham with their 3 children (Rebecca, Mikala and Joseph). They attend Christ the King in Bellingham where previously Shawn worked as the Family and Marriage Pastor. Their family enjoys hiking and being outdoors.
Adriane Bonaparte • Workshop Teacher

Miss Bonaparte is our workshop teacher which means she focuses on science and social studies for her teaching days. She teaches Wednesdays in the intermediate room and Fridays in the primary classroom. On Tuesdays, you’ll find her in the school office planning hands-on lessons for the upcoming week.
Adriane is loved by all Bridgeway students! Her Workshop days bring excitement and enthusiasm to the learning processes in science and social studies.
Adriane comes to Bridgeway with a wide array of life experiences including serving our nation in the Coast Guard, teaching in the Alaskan Bush and living on a sailboat. She loves outdoor activities, especially mountain biking.
Alex Jordan • Teaching Assistant
Associates in Arts and Science Transfer Degree from Whatcom Community College (with several early childhood education classes) with a career aspiration to become an elementary teacher
Miss Jordan is the teaching assistant in the primary classroom 5 days a week. She supports the lead teacher in meeting the needs of our students. You’ll find her working one-on-one with students, leading a small group activity or assisting the teacher with classroom tasks. Jordan is mentored by Mrs. Syre and Ms. Rose and has proven herself to be flexible and reflective as she takes on the challenges and rewards of working with our youngest learners.
Prior to working at Bridgeway, Jordan had many years of experience with caring for young children including working for a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) program at a local church.
Jordan grew up in Whatcom County and spends a lot of time with her family. She enjoys baking, watching movies and attending country music concerts.
